I think it's just a matter of taking the head off and switching them. I'm sure there are a multitude of websites out there detailing how to do it, ie Turbo Team Europe or whatever it's called.
Well - it's a bit more than swapping heads. I did a pretty comprehensive write up on the subject - after converting my beloved Saabine from 8 to 16 valves, including transferring the LH electronic fuel injection - which is at http://www.turboteameurope.com under 'Projects'. As are pics of a similar project by Angus M. Smith, who retained the original 8v Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection by fabricating brackets for the latter's injectors and warm up regulator.
