If anyone's interested, the seats will share the same structure (just different trim & foam) as the Envoy & Trailblazer.
That is all. |

Its really funny how SAAB and Volvo make some of the ergonomically best seats for their cars of all manufacturers. I have driven many different cars long distances, and only in SAABS and Volvos can I go for 5 hours without getting lower back pain... I wonder what it is about Sweden and good seats? I lived there for 16 years, but I don't have a clue. Any ideas? |

GM's decision to go with an existing seat rather than a SAAB-designed seat. Cheaper, no development time.
More & more in the vehicle I would expect will got his route. |

Most seats in Saabs are made by a company called Lear Industries.
Guess what company makes most of the GM seats? |

I'm guessing, however, that they make them to the specificfation of the car-makers, cause the seats in different makes of cars all made by lear, are very different. I wonder why Saabs and Volvos are just so much more comfortable... |

I know for a fact that Honda produces it's own seats... (been to the R&D plant in Ohio).
Well, even though the 9-7 seats are based off the Trailblazer/Envoy seats, it still looks like they added a more aggressive side bolster. The seats in the Chevy Trailblzer are flat as boards - no lateral support. I must admit, the seats in the Volvo S60 are a dream. Comfortable but firm and they hold you in place - especially the seats in the S60R. I love the seats in my Passat, they are comfortable for long distances and the leather is of great quality, but they don't hold me in place as well as some other seats do (like the S60's). |

They look nearly identical to the damn chevy blazer seats..... My dad told me the vents and such are all straight from a 9-5... lol

![]() also, notice the side mirrors, steering wheel, and door panels.... all nearly identical to the 9-7X's.... along with the rear view mirror.. that is IDENTICAL to the last mm or so it looks. |

The interior door panels are definitely different, but the rear view and side mirros are pretty obvious lift-offs of the current Trailblazer. The shifter is also different. Much lower in the console (or the console was raised up). Hmmm...I guess the cloth seats in the Trailblazer are different from the leather ones pictured there. The cloth ones definitely don't have any side bolstering, as far as my butt can tell!
Overall, I'd have to say it was a much less blatant re-badging effort than a lot of vehicles in the past and vehicles as of late. |

No you guys can't possibly tell me honstly that the 9-7 is not better than the TBlazer. And trust me, the TBlazer looks even worse in person (I have never seen a car with so much cheap plastic, and then the dealer tried to say the leather was the same quality as in the Impala. I agree that it is the same quality, but it for sure is not leather - it is "pleather," aka a grade abouve what is on my kitchen floor. Not even up to "leatherette" quality)

Here's a good shot of the seats - and ignition. I still don't see how you are supposed to start the car with a position like that. BTW, here's a link to Saab's Microsite on the 9-7:
http://new9-7x.saabusa.com Doesn't seem to be working. Here's the URL: http://new9-7x.saabusa.com/images/gallery4.html |

Reagrdless, I totally missed the center console ignition. I'm sure that'll quiet a few people up... Not that it really matters, but if they could put the center ignition in the Trailblazer/9-7, why couldn't they retrofit the WRX/9-2? :-?? |
