Hello all,
Recently tried to purchase a K&N filter for my 96' 900SET and was sent a K&N #33-2020 filter. This is obviously an incorrect filter meant for a Saab 9000. Is K&N part #33-2663 the correct number even though it comes up as a ford festiva application??? Lastly, are there any other viable alternatives to this panel filter that would actually yield a significant increase in overall performance versus the swap to a 3" modified airbox with the proper K&N panel filter. Thanks in advance! |

The 33-2663 is the one you want from K&N.
There are alternatives to K&N. JR makes one for your car sold through Genuine Saab or ITG makes a foam Filter for it as well. You won't notice much of a difference between the three filters and anything else might yield less filtration. The K&N or JR or ITG is your best bet. The 3" duct mod should be thought of separately. It doesn't change the Filter you need for the box. The only switch would be to go to the Cone air intake. But that has its problems as well putting the filter frther up in the engine bay drawing more hot air. IMHO, the 3" duct mod with a K&N or others listed above is the best bet for cheap. with great results. |

Hi to be honest your never going to get much from any filter on such an already powerful car (my opinion)If you put a cone on a mini you really do feel it.
However you will get a better feel from the engine and better spinup from the turbo. Its like a pushbike as a kid pump up the tyres and the bike feels different Regards your querey I reckon a good panel filter a foam 1 such as ITG, RamAir or Piper X is as good as a cone especially if you widen the air inlet at the box. I don't belive in cotton filters I don't rate them especially not for turbo cars. Most cones are fitted cos they look the nuts hanging off a alloy pipe in the engine bay. This is when they suffer from sucking hot air from within the bay. To do it properley you got to get cold air to that cone and get the best of both worlds. Easier breathing and good cold feed. Dead |

I have run K&N Filters for years without problems. put over 283K miles on a SPG using a K&N and never had issue with it.
