Default MAF - Mass Air Flow Sensor

About two month ago I'm at a light and my 1999 9-5 starts running like crap and stalls. I was low on gas so I thought it had run out of gas. I push to side of road and go get some gas.

Put in a gallon and finally get it fired, and drive to get more gas. It's still running like crap when in P, idle, or shifting, but runs fine when on the highway and your on the gas.

Long story short we had family emergency and let it sit for last two months. Finally got around to diagnose and its a bad MAF. Put in a new used one I found on ebay for $50 shipped and it runs SMOOTH! Going to change the oil and I should be good until the next breakdown...ha ha ha

This car has stranded me a minimum of 4 times in 2012. POS

Default Be kind...

Your Saab is 13 years old. It's born to occasionally run into problems.

I second, and proper maintenance will further reduce the strandings

I also have a '99 in the driveway, over 9 years of driving it has left me stranded once with a burst water hose, not bad in my world.

How did you diagnose this issue as being a bad MAF ? Glad that solved your problem.
