Question Needing A Software Upgrade????

So I was taking to a service tech and he said that my vehicles firmware or software, could use an upgrade. I have a 2007 93, which I have done a ton of upgrades to. Including remote starter and alarm, aftermarket speakers, subwoofer and amp, cold air intake, HIDs for lows and highs, 3 stage turbo chip, and full overhaul of the exhaust system which is now completly Borla. Anyways the list goes on. Now I wondering if anybody could tell me if an upgrade or update is available? Can I do it myself? Is it worth the money for a service tech to do it? And has anybody else done one yet? Thanks for your time.

Wheres your 3 stage turbo chip from? FI you mean you have a stage 3 tune, then a firmware upgrade will result in you goin back to stock. Moot really if you have a handheld tuner. Personally I wouldn't bother with the update.

Did the tech happen to mention why he thought you could use it?

Yeah. An exhaust speciality place here did a complete custom downpipe.

And the stage 3 chip is a thing that attaches to the positive terminal on my battery to make sure I always have full voltage throughtout my whole car.

As for the computer firmware. Anyone know how often it should be updated? I dont think there has ever been one yet.

....yeah this might be one of the most ridiculous things I've read on this forum so far, I hope you didn't spend too much on this....I'm not trying to sound like a jack@$$ so sorry if that's how i"m coming off, but even the term "chip" doesn't apply to these cars. THe only tuning performed on T8 is remapping of the stock ECU, so it's not an additional "chip" that can be added.

Now I understand what the SaabTech was talking about. You don't have upgraded software for your 3" DP, which could be giving you some rough running conditions (all depends on the car, the downpipe, the catalytic convertor if there is one, etc).

I do first off apologise for the terms I used to explain what I have under the hood. I should have said a Voltage Stablizer. Its more to make sure my cars power is never under powered.

Thank u guys for actually responding at least. I havent had much luck with that in the past. So. Like I should get an upgrade is what it sounds like. I know there is that harness and accepts a male adapter right under my steering wheel on the right side . I guessing thats where they would plug into.

Anyways. Thank u guys for everything. And to the dude that didnt wanna sound like a jackass. You didnt. No worries.

Contact JZW and he'll get you a good stage 3 tune
I've never read about anyone using a voltage stabilizer. I think it is unnecessary.

jzwtuning.com. The obd2 port is the harness under the steering wheel that the hand held tuners plug into. So yes, your 9-3 has one. Stick with jzw, vtuner, bsr, nordic or hirsch for a tune. do a search for any of those companies. All reputable. more expensive, but the performance chip thing is a bust.

I seriously cant think of anything more ridiculous than that, other than getting a tub of regular motor oil, and relabeling it as powerboosting motor oil, gives you +10 HP

ohh the memories of hours and hours of informercials on this crap are coming to mind... I think there was even one that showed an engine getting drained, they pour their crap in and then start the engine, and it magically runs!
