how do you hook up aftermarket HIDs ?

Bought a kit from Ddm to replace the ballasts and bulbs for my gfs 04 93. This thing has the goofiest light wiring harness I have ever seen. Someone please tell me how to go about this?

And while I'm on the subject the car has the xenon bulbs that control hi and low but it also has h7 bulbs towards the inside. They do not work for anything though. I did not even know they were there until I took the headlights out. What are these for?

Why did you want to replace the ballasts? Were you'rs bad? What kind of bulbs are in your car from the factory? D2S, or D1S? If your ballasts are fine you should not touch those. Just swap the bulbs with 4,300k.

Dumb question, but do all 9-3's come with hid's? I have an 04 aero and was looking into ddm also, if mine does they are very yellow looking, and if they do can I just buy the bulbs to a more white tint like say 8000k? Thanks and sorry to thread jack

8K is blue. you wanna stay in the in the 5K range for white. Stock bulbs are 4300K

Shlagher, I have the factory Bi-Xenon. When I first got my saab, I too wanted to get HIDs. I was informed that if that car came stock with Factory Bi-Xenon, Dont mess with them. I listened and just bought some 5k bulbs. Those H7 bulbs are were the High Beams would be if you didnt have the Bi-xenons. I took those out of my car. But I have a High Beam failure on the SID.

no only ARC's and Aero's came with them standard, and i believe on some Lin (optional) my wife has DDM hids in her Lin, the plug that goes to the lights goes to the ballast and the wire from the ballast to the light, simple but if it didn't come with hids, your SID will constantly have a Low R beam out and Low L beam out , unless you get some one with a Tech 2 scanner to enable the hids on the car. i would take a picture of how my wifes are set up but she's out, i'll see if i can when she get's back and yes anything under 5k is white (yellowish) 8K or higher will be blue-ish, and if you get 12k (like my wife did) they'll be purple, just don't expect to be able to see anything at night cause the higher the temp the brghter they appear, but the more you visability drop

i would suggest ordering an extra set, not that theirs go out quick (haven't any any issues with my wifes) but in the event they do go out you'll have a set on stock instead of having to rush to the nearest lowrider shop (yes it's sad as big as my city is, the only place to buy after market HID bulbs is a lower rider shop) and paying those greedy scheming cholo's 50 bucks a piece for them, like i did .

Why do people think 4,300k is yellow? Every single oem manufacturer is using this color temperature, or something very close to it. They do it for a reason. It emits the most lumens and it also means less strain on your eyes. Going with anything more does nothing good for you. 4,300k is not yellow at all. It appears yellow when you stick them next to rice blue lights, but who cares? The HID projectors in Saab are Hella e55's (as referred to in the HID world). The cutoff has a lot of color and flicker. If you ever look at bmw's or Mercedes headlights you will notice this. You dont need higher kelvin rated bulbs, because the cutoff is producing a lot of blue and purple already.

I have factory bi-xenon headlights and also my H7s work too. But I am from Europe!
I think only the European cars have this bi-xenon and working H7s. In the US I think it is factory forbidden ...

wow that's a rant, yes blue-ish light look ricer, and purple ones even more so, but that's what my wife wanted and that's what she got she regrets it now cause she cant see sh!t but hey that's her problem, i don't have any issues seeing the road with my lights

it means you need to find a saab dealer or authorized saab mechanic and they will use the Saab tech scanner to unlock this feature for you

my bi xenons and h7s work on my 06, but didnt on my 03... i remember from my 03 that the h7s were flash to pass only. Maybe this changed in 06
