Exclamation 1999 Saab 9-3 stuck in park, shifter moves

Hey guys !!
Thanks for any info

My wives Saab its a '99 convertible. She loves it !

Yesterday she stopped, turned off motor after putting it in park (automatic tranny) after waiting for a few mins she started up the car and pull the shifter into drive and NOTHING.
It will not come out of park. The shifter moves just fine but does not go into gear.
After some reasearch... Under the hood I located the shifter cable. You can see the metal part of the cable moving as you work the shifter.

Is there a linkage broke in there ??
Can you get to it ??
Any pics would be great !!!!

Thanks again

Yep, and the only mechanical linkage in the trans is for Park, everything else is hydraulic based on the solenoids and valve body.

Only way in is to drain the transmission, support the engine and transmission and remove both the front left mount and it's bracket.

Once that bracket is off, you can pull the front cover off the transmission to get to the solenoid valves and the park lever. You'll also need to remove the transmission oil cooler return line there on the front cover.

Just to confirm, the transmission remains locked in Park and won't roll?
