Default holy smoking viggen!

Dear Forum,

I was recently posting about my 2000 Saab Viggen and its oil consumption issue. Well, I took it to my mechanic(whom i trust) and he decided that the problem was the PCV box. Actually, he decided to REMOVE update # 6 and return the PCV box back to stock. In addition, the car was REALLY in the shop because I blew a coolant hose on the highway, spraying coolant all over my engine block. Could this of blew my turbo seals if it got too hot? The red triangle came up for a second or two...

Before this was done, the oil consumption was somewhat of a mystery, because there was no white smoke. However, currently the car is blowing puffs of white smoke out of the exhaust. It is present when I give it 1/2-full acceleration then let off the gas. He told me that my turbo is on its way out... The question is: Why didn't i notice this smoke before? Is there any way that the white smoke could be contributed to the PCV box being returned to stock.

I'm trying to avoid buying a brand new turbo here, but also have to get this consumption issue taken care of.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
SAADSAAB

Wrong forum... the 9-3 OG forum is the one below this one...

but i owned one, and the turbos are pretty stout. white smoke is coolant, blue is oil...
