Hello Saab community,
I'm FINALLY working on my old 94' 9000 CSE. Its been in my garage for almost 5 years. Money and time have finally met and I'm doing a mild restoration. My question is regarding the availability/existance of reset tools for this car. A lot has changed over the past 5+ years. My airbag light is on. I've replaced the airbag clock spring, but need to reset the light. Any suggestions in where I can find a tool? |

Yep, requires an ISAT or some high end Tech II's. You can't fool it - believe me I've tried.

I was afraid you were gonna say that. Those Tech 2's run $1,000+. Uggggggg. Maybe I can find a rental

Or a SAAB mechanic in your area.

You're better off paying an hour's labor and having a Pro do it. He can retrieve all codes, reset everything, then explain which codes you caused, which ones have been fixed, and which are other problems.

Yes, and my local agent with the only tech tool is 600km away one way, so I had to take a 1200km trip to get my airbag light turned off!
However it was not such a bad thing in the end, even though I had tripped the light by turning the key on when I had the dash out, (I was fixing my ACC unit) they also found there was water in the SRS module. They found that the next day when I went back after it had come on again! I had parked on a very steep hill and there was enough water in there to trigger the fault again!! The units are in a real dumb place right under the heater/ACC unit, and are supposed to have a retro fitted factory plastic cover over them.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll have to find an independent Saab specialist ...but I'm going to buy one of those Tech 2's as soon as I have the money to spare. Its just against my core to have someone else work on my car with the exception of replacing tires or getting an alignment. If I had the space and money for an alignment rack and wheel balancer, I'd do that myself as well!
I'm hoping to post a thread with pics from my 9000's restoration. I'm planning on buying another motor from the salvage yard, rebuilding it, and keeping it on my engine stand as a back up. |

Can you drive that far in NZ without falling into the sea? Where the heck is Riverton?
