Hi All,
I just bought a used 2001 Saab 9-5 that had a few issues. I am having the ABS Controller Module rebuilt and replacing the master airflow sensor but I have an issue that is stumping me. The windshield fluid sprays randomly and will keep spraying until it runs out of fluid. Sometimes shutting the engine off or pulling the windshield spray handle with shut it off but it doesn't always work. I am going to disconnect the power from the pump to make sure I don't burn the motor out before I get this fixed. Any ideas? Thanks |

The pump is situated below the washer bottle and given its location low down at the front I would suspect that that is at fault. New pumps are quite cheap so i would be tempted to get a new one and see what happens.

had this before in a 9k, my problem turned out to be a bad headlamp wiper. Do your wipers run at the same time, or just the sprayers?

It's just the sprayers. Now that you mention it I did notice that one of the lamp wipers doesn't seem to be working. I'll check that out. Thanks.

moose, please dont take this wrong, take it as me laughing with you not at you, but that is hilarious. Im a new Saab owner myself, had my 9-5 since April of this year. Ive done all the work myself and still have kinks to work out.
If this started happening to me on the drive home from work today I wouldnt even shrug or be surprised. Id just give an ole "yep" and move on. Just never heard of that happening before, ever. Now my father in laws wind shield wipers will just go off randomly. He thinks they are haunted. I laugh every time I see that damned van in the driveway with the windshield wipers going. cracks me up. Hope you get it fixed cheaply. |

I hope so too Dustin! I'm thinking it hopefully won't be too bad to fix it, everything else has been pretty cheap. If not I got the car for a good price so I can throw some money in it to get it tip top. Especially since the interior and exterior look brand new. Thanks everyone for their help, I'm sure your have more questions from me!
