Default how much wobble between the splines?

I am replacing the passenger side intermediate shaft bearing this weekend (It has a a slight vibration and is making a noise similar to a bad wheel bearing). I can see where it has spun out all of the grease past the seals on both sides. The boot on the CV axle inner joint is clean and not leaking.

My question is how much play is there supposed to be between the splines on the intermediate shaft and the splines on the companion flange? Mine has a little bit of wobble between the two, but I can't find out how much is acceptable.

Thanks

Just in case anyone was interested...

I pulled everything apart this evening and found that the wobble was coming entirely from the intermediate shaft bearing. The splines between the intermediate shaft and the companion flange are in good shape. They are not a press fit, but there is almost no clearance or wobble between the two. I am replacing the CV axle while I am at it. The remanufactured CV axle from NAPA comes with the companion flange and fits just as tight as the original.

should be pretty much a zero tolerance fit, with a c clip to hold it together. a good smack with a hammer will separate the 2
