Default What is the widest/tallest tire I can fit on 17 rim?

I'm looking to purchase 17" rims, and wonder what the biggest tire I can fit, especially height wise, to fill the space, but without rubbing.

Thanks --Sandra

225/45 is ideal, though it depends on the rim width. You can get away with 235/40 AFAIK.

I have 225/45 on my 17' konigs and my wheel wells are nearly filled. I told the guy when I bought the rims/tires that I wanted the widest tires possible, and he said 235 was doable, but they would rub at full tilt.

AFTER. 225/45/17. The aero rims are so pimp, I got a ticket already.

Very clean ride.. and nice choice on the wheels. Boston streets are mean lol. I cracked a wheel on my 300zx going to a show in Boston. Now I walk or take the T. hahaha

Height wise you can fit a wheel with 650mm+ diameter.
Correlates to these
205/55/17
225/50/17
245/45/17
Not saying the last will fit width wise, only speakin of the height
Under my race have now 205/60/16 which has a nominal diameter of 652mm and for next season will get either 205/55/17 which has 657mm diameter or 215/55/17 which has 668mm diameter. Both should fit ok with current H/R + bilstein set-up.
