150 1.9 tid thermostat

Hi,

I need to replace my thermostat and have read that the whole housing assembly has to be changed.

On one uk motor factors website they show the thermostat available as an individual item however. Does anybody know if it is possible to replace the thermostat in the housing without the need of special tooling?

Hi, the themostat for the petrol models is an individual item but the thermostat for both the SOHC 8v ( Z19DT ) and the DOHC 16v ( Z19DTH ) that is the 120bhp and the 150bhp Diesel engines are not individual, they are integral with the housing. So my guess is the motor factor's web site that you have looked at have inadvertantly used a picture or photo of a thermostat for a petrol model. So no would not think it would be possible to replace just the thermostat part.
