Default Ignition switch "stuck"

So I picked up a new (to me) SAAB the other day....so far so good and the car drives nicely!!

Here's my first question. When I pull out the key after it's been switched off, the key comes out fine, but sometimes it's not completely shutting off - i.e. radio/nav is still on. It's almost like the silver ignition cylinder has not completely disengaged. I have to put the key back in and wiggle it for it pop out and then everything shuts off.

Is this a sign of a bad ignition cylinder? Is there a fix without replacing it? Will WD40 work? Thanks!

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!!!!!

You might have some debris under the cylinder that's stopping the switch from popping the cylinder up. The best way to go at this is to remove the cylinder and check. DO NOT USE WD40

Default Problem solved

Thanks so much!! I did do the search prior to posting it but didn't come up. Again, thanks!

BTW, I know you said no WD40, but a solution is to use it once the cylinder it out. I guess you meant not to use before taking it out

No, I meant not use it because WD40 attracts dust and it will cake up dust over time the best thing to do when it's out is to use graphite or a teflon base lubricant.
