Default RADIO STATION PRESETS

Why does my radio revert back to the first preset every time I try to scroll through preset stations using the steering wheel controls?

I know this has been discussed in the forum but I'm having trouble finding the exact fix or explanation.

EDIT: FOR FAQ USERS - Solution: reprogram the channel that is supposedly next in sequence but jumps back to one.

The reason preset aren't cycling properly is because a new station in your preset list started transmitting RDS info (lets just say 103.5 programmed to #6). When on the station preset #5, the stereo would go try to go 103.5 at #6 but couldn't because the stereo no longer just picks up 103.5 but also the Station name and song information so it would go back to #1. If you reprogram #6 again, the problem is solved and now you can cycle from 1-12 (or at least until you hit another "new" rds transmitting station) straight through.

Kudos to mbodo for posting this. Couldn't find his thread so I posted the above.

HTH!

It only does it if you have used the seek buttons. If you are on a preset it will go to the next one. If I want to start over at preset 1, I will touch the seek button then hit nxt.

Default Presets

Just needed to reprogram presets, didn't have anything to do with "seek", just "next" button. That took care of it, thanks.

I wish there was a mechanism to go back and forth through the preset radio list. Also, you can set two sets of six radio stations in the FM band. However, the "next" button only cycles through the six that you are currently tuned into (i.e., FM1 or FM2). Is it supposed to go through all twelve?

Paul,

You can program 12 presets each for FM1, FM2, and AM for a total of 36 presets.

However, I don't know of any way to cycle from from FM1 to FM2 just by moving to the next preset.

Twelve presents each...how do you go about doing that? I will have to look at the manual again in greater detail. One thing is for sure....Ottawa does not have 24 stations....I believe we just have 16 or something like that....

Thanks

Well, that's another story!

As for the 12 presets, do you have the infortainment 2 setup? The buttons used for the phone-pad dial are 1-12.

infotainment 2? You mean the entertainment system that has teh LCD screen? Nope....I do not have that. I have the basic radio setup with six keys. I don't think I have the infotainment 2 setup....

Ok, that takes care of that. Sometimes I forget that not everyone has the Infotainment 2 (LCD) setup. Sorry.

To cycle between FM1, FM2 and AM simply press the RADIO button repeatedly. Thought I would mention that as some have not been aware of that in the past.

This I know....I wish there was a way to do so with the steering column. There are two buttons on there are are completely useless to me. The two buttons that have the telephone icon.

Also...I wish there was a way to control the computer with the steering column as well....to cycle through the temperature, gas, D.T.E., etc displays instead of having to turn the knob.

These are just slight usability issues that don't deter me from driving the car, but that would make it so much more better than the competition.

I just see no point in those seek buttons. They should be used for presets. Do you know how many times I pass by a station, want to go back and have to cycle through with "Next"? It drives me insane. I can't remember the last time I've ever used "Seek". I know what stations I want to listen to.

On the AM dial I listen to 3 stations, so I just programmed one station on every third preset, having 4 presets for each station. Works well.

On the Cadillac CTS the SWC buttons are programmable to any function.
