Well I fell into this time. I cannot get this 93 9000 to start with the key and I think it is connected to the alarm because the previous owner has fiddled with the unit. I am fine with leaving it disconnected, but my fear is the alarm is the reason why the key does not work. I plugged the alarm in and tried to shut it off at the door, but no joy. Does anyone know of a way to bypass that system. When I bought the car I saw the owner try and start it with a weak battery and it did turn over? I sent him an email to ask if there is some trick or something.

I have a spare Correct Factory Yellow alarm module for a 1993 9000 that you can have, or you can make a wire jumper to bypass the alarm's immobilizer function.
You will need to jump pin 1 (Yellow) and pin 9 (Yellow/White) on the black female connector that plugs into the alarm module. |

Thanks Jeff that is very cool. I might not be looking at the correct module. The one I am referring to is black and on the passenger side right below the glove box on the right. It has a plug on each end one with a long plug and one with a short end.

That's not a factory alarm module then....
The factory one for 1993 was a yellow box that was located underneath the dash below the passenger's side glove box. It only had one single multi-pin connector for the wiring harness |

Thanks a lot Jeff that explains some of the extra stuff around this black unit. The PO ran some wires out of the fuse box, basically a jump from the 4 way flasher to the radio, I guess to put power to the radio fuse all the time, and wire from the fuel pump to this black box. (I need to get a camera) so I can communicate better. Perhaps I can try that module you have. Shipping should not be too much. And he had some relays and blinking light there also next to the black box. The multi pin connector is still there and connected to one of the ends of the black box, perhaps I can get this back to normal.

Hey Jeff the more I look at what is going on here the more I think I am going to need an alarm module with a pig tail and about a foot of wirer on the end of that. The PO has hacked out the old pig tail and spliced into it. I do have another 93 non turbo with 200K that has a perfect body and nice interior, but a blown motor. I did not want to start cutting that up, mostly because I am uncertain which car to use in this project. The 93 turbo has a dinged up body, but only 125K leather interior and some kinda Traction thing, but bad trany. In fact, I am not sure if the turbo motor will match up to the non-turbo harness and such in the non- turbo one. What do you think? What is interesting is it looks like the turbo vehicle would be easier work on. The back half of the engine compartment looks more accessible. |

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner about the alarm issue, been busy with the last week of school for the semester.
I do have a wiring harness connector with about 4"-6" of wire left on it to go with the Alarm module. I also have the wiring schematics for the alarm system. |
