On my coworker's 03 9-5, the keyless has stopped working. He got two keys when he bought it recently. One seemed to have a dead battery. The other worked fine. After working on the car a bit, including unhooking the car's battery, the keyless does not work. He's replaced the battery in one of the keys and it still does not work. Does the keyless need reprogrammed after the car's battery was unhooked or the key's battery replaced? Or is there some other common problem?

Only the new 95 has keyless entry. Your 2003 95 uses a remote control to lock/unlock the car doors. The subject to this discussion is thus a little misleading...

It's been called Remote Keyless Entry (or RKE for short) since at least 1989 when my grandma bought an Oldsmobile 98 Regency. It was a $900 option.
Thanks for the link, Chris. That looks easy enough. |

Hi,
I am not aware of any cars built with keyless entry which DON'T have power locks. The keyless entry would not work without them therefore it would be a waste of time and money for the company to install it. I think you need to check with the dealer. If you purchased the car used maybe the previous owner lost the clicker, or sold it on EBay for beer money as one idiot on here admitted to when he asked if the car was worth less without it. Yep I'd agree with that and a new member talking about locks with a locksmith advert in their signature too..........
Just press that button And if you can enter the car without a "key" its keyless............... |

This sig was gone before I saw it. Actually, I don't see anyone's sig. They must be off by default.

We still haven't figured out the keyless. We tried the four button clicks thing, but it was a no go.

I'm sure I've had to press or even hold down the lock / unlock button on the fob for quite a while until they re synchronise and start working again.

Hold the lock and unlock at the same time, or hold one or the other?

Sorry for the slow update. He stood by the car and just kept pressing buttons and it suddenly started working. He had no idea what combo of buttons it was, but it's working fine now!
