Hello all, I am new to SAAB central and am currently on my second saab.
I have an issue i would much appreciate some help with. I have a 99 9-5 SE V-6 turbo, I bought this car about a week ago and replaced the blown turbocharger, I now have the car running and cannot figure out something. Some moron cut off the harness that connects the rear DIS cassette and soldered in a junk yard harness with different color wires, I believe he did not wire it right and would like a picture or diagram of the origional harness as i can not find one or any 9-5s in my area with a V-6. I can elaborate on the issues i have if needed but would be very greatful if an awesom V-6 owner would pull his engine cover and snap some pics for me....... Thank you in advance..... |

oops! I tried to post a screenshot of the WIS, that shows the electrical connector and the wire color to each pin. Do you have the WIS, or will the wiring diagram help you?
No lie, I just put my engine cover back on a couple hours ago! (pulled and cleaned TB)... Let me know... |

Sorry for being a newb but, whats a WIS? And a good high quality pic of the plug that shows the pin locations and colors of the wires would suffice, hell even a hand drawn thing idk i just wish my saab would run right
|

If WIS shows the plug with the pin locations and wire colors like you said then yes please, then maybe i can actually test drive a car i bought almost a week ago, I feel kinda dumb now............

Thank you very much for the link and snappy reply, I plan to hit a few junk yards tomorrow and try myluck at finding one to draw/write/snapshot a diagram for my needs or snip an origional harnes and solder/shrinktube all back together again so humpty-dumpty can ride out.

Still nothing, dealer will not print a page from the wis or let me look at it, no junk yards have a 9-5 V6, so im pretty much screwed, need this car yesterday and do not have time to wait on a wis to get here..........Frustrated!

You need to psot the pic up on a image shjaring site like photobucket to host it and copy in teh image link using the little mountain icon above

So what issues you are having with this extra wire harness being soldered on? Also why would you buy another wire harness and re-solder it on instead replacing the whole wire hareness? If I was me I would trace out the wires and make sure they aren't grounding out. It doesn't really matter if the colors are different as long as they plug into the correct area.
Honestly your title of your post isn't the best by any means. So lighten it up a little bit if you don't mind. The previous owner must have not been to much of a idiot considering he was able to sell a car with a bad turbo and wire harness. Also post some pics of this wire harness. I would really like to see if it is soldered in. I don't see how you now which colors are different than they are suppose to be without a wiring diagram. Mayeb they go into a connector junction and come out a different color, which I have seen on a few cars in the past. Either way good luck and use the search feature for a fast return of common questions. |

Yes your right, this guy wasnt as much of an idiot as I was for buying said car. I got a WIS and wired the harness in correctly (sorry no pics, car is on side of road). Got the car running on all 6 correctly but would not idle under 3000 rpms, got a bit over zealous and decided to take the carhome from the garage, now number 3 piston is laying in the road and there is a nice sized hole in the block, I give up, an engine is too expensive and i have too much money in this vehicle now, so its for sale, everything works except the engine and the turbocharger cartridge is a reman unit with a one year/unlimited mile waranty, if interested PM me and ill provide whatever you like about the car (I'll get some good pics as soon as the snow is gone). thanks for your help, but it was not meant to be........

In the WIS pin 7 is BU/RD in the wire diagram in the WIS its OG/WH and on the car its orange/white just a little thing i found when going thru the WIS, it has a mess up for the front bank as well between the pin out and the wire diagram.....just wierd.
