Hello
My car: Saab 9-3 Linear 4 door Sedan. I bought the car few days ago. Came dead battery because it came from another state far away. The tow truck that dropped it off jumped the car for me using a battery charger pack. it turned on fine. But I didnt leave it to charge. Few days later I come out it wont turn on because battery is dead. Tried a charger jumper thing again but the charger was almost dead. It turned on the lights and died. I charged it all the way next day I try to jump the car again. it doesnt crank just clicks twice as seen in the video. Im sure I have enough juice in the battery pack. I even tried jumping the car using another working car but it would click twice and does nothing. Check video for that clicking sound. While it clicks it flashes the orange lights (engine, fuel). The fuel level shows full as seen in video. http://www.youtube.com/user/minalegend2008?feature=mhum |

The battery is dead.
You won't be able to jump start nor recharge because cells are bad. Replace the battery and see whats gonna happen.

try taking a battery from a working car and swapping it with the saabs, turn the car on than see what happends...also you can turn the key to the on position, get under the car and touch the constant (+) terminal with the smaller terminal on the starter itself, you need to join the 2, i use a screwdriver. that will turn the engine over, and if the key is in the on position, it will start the car aswell...

btw for anyone who have this problem. The battery wasnt bad. It just wasnt charged for a while. Im guessing the charger pack I have isnt strong enough. Anyway took it to advance auto part and they said they will charge it for me for free. an hour later fully charged and car is working fine with it.

heres a free idea that MIGHT fix this.
find the starter, locate the solenoid on the starter. tap it a couple times with a wrench, don't wail on it, just give it a couple stiff taps. Try to start. It could be that the Bendix spring is stuck. Also, make sure your battery terminals are not falling out of the battery, aka, give the battery wires a quick but light tug, see if the terminals themselves have any play in them. if they do, your car will not start due to this, with or without a battery pack, and will just make alot of noise like the video. I had both of these issues in previous vehicles and had both be the culprit Last edited by Edmonton9-3; 04-12-10 at 03:00 PM. Reason: grammar |
