Default Removing door panel

I am trying to resolve intermittent exterior door handle issues on my 97 9000CSE. I have all bolts out, but the instructions I have say to remove the mirror switch cover (done) and then remove the switch...how?

I have scratched the heck out of the handle trim trying to get the stupid thing out! Are there pins, clips...how does the mirror switch come out?

Ah, yes, the secret lever.

I believe all 9000 door panels with this electric mirror feature are the same from the inception of the car until the final model.

I say this because I only have the 1986-88 shop manual and I have not removed the driver's door panel for a long time. So, if what I describe does not work wait for someone with a newer 9000 to answer this thread with the revised procedure, if there is one.

The mirror selector switch button itself must come off first, it pulls off the mirror selector switch itself (this is NOT the joystick adjuster switch but the flat semi circular button that selects either right or left mirror or neutral, i.e. neither mirror).

Then the shop manual says to "insert a screwdriver and lever the catch forward". The picture shows the screwdriver being inserted into the slot left when the mirror selector switch has been removed.

Behind this will be the pesky screw that is preventing you from removing the surround around the interior door handle and thus preventing you from removing the door panel.

Default driver door latch cover

Superaero is right. Saab 9000 cse 1997. Pull off left/right selector knob for the door mirror adjusters... ( on the up and down switch ! ).
Remove small foam padding.
Insert thin screwdriver to release the large retaining clip, hidden by the two items above.
