Hi guys,
I have 99 9-5 v6 3.0....its runs like a champ on the street...freeway..but I have noticed that on uphills and up-ramps..it struggles...I had to move aside so other drivers behind me can get passed me....car has new radiator..oil cooler...no blue smoke..no check gearbox light or engine... what do you think this might be? |

Does it downshift when you go up hills? It should. If it doesn't, manually downshift it to 3 or 2 when going up hills and see if this solves the problem(watch your revs). If it does, then you have a shifting problem. Usually a minor repair(at least in my old '75 chevy Nova it was). The V6 has pleanty of power to get up a hill.
BTW, the V6 was only offered in auto Let us know how it goes |

The car drives great, I tried putting it on 3 when im going uphill and it doesnt do anything (doesnt jump or go faster)...i have a 4 cylinder saab 9-3..EASY uphill..no problem..i would assume the v6 would be much better...sadly...it struggles...

Sounds like the downshifting is a problem. I'd take it to a shop, hopfully it is a relay or shift solonoid. My V6 doesn't even notice hills

+1 I'm on hills a lot. Base of the hill: little more accelerator, it down shifts, and I fly up the. Hill.
