SAAB 9-7X running board composition?

Hi:
Need some help here, please. Can anyone that has a SAAB 9-7X that came with factory running boards tell me what the metal layer underneath is? Because of my climate here, it matters to me if they are aluminum or steel. Thanks in advance!

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say steel. When I took mine off they were outrageously heavy. I'm guessing your in a cold climate area and looking for aluminum.

I'm north of you and we have I think worse winters then you down in Cleveland and I've had the boards on for 4 years now with no problems... there does not seem to be any rusting happening underneath when I went to look, I can't tell if its AL or Steel...
