Default VT 100, The 2nd Annual Green Mountain Saab Run (August 7th)

The time has come to begin nailing down dates! With the lack of a Convention on the East Coast in 2004...

Sat Aug 7th. Bennington VT.

for a summary of last years event see http://www.featherlink.com/vt100

This year instead of a 1 way trip, we will be making a loop back to Bennington.

save the date!

I'll keep this in mind ... but unfortunately (again) it is some 5+ hours from my place ...

But it is a day after my birthday!

Default NYSOC's CAN AM Run

you should come, I'd like to see you there...but if you're looking for something closer, the NYSOC runs a CanAm run "annually" so you might check that out. Last year it went from Saratoga Springs to Montreal and back, (overnight in Montreal and a night on the town) much fun was had!!!

so it is a 100 mile loop, is that the plan? I had a great time yesterday on the run we did with the SOG, but I know my car cant keep that pace for a long time, not in the condition it is in... maybe if I was father front... I loved the pace but my car is old and tired maybe I will bring dads vette... ops: jk

Hey Eric,

Thanks for the props on the run. Yes the VT100 will be roughly a 100 mile loop probably longer by a bit. If you run at the front it will be MUCH easier on your car. There will be some spirited driving when I feel like having fun but I wont lose the group. You can always come and get a ride in someone elses car. a few people have done that in the past.

it was a fun run. I dont mind running it hard, just that it was getting a little hot in a few places. I was the one that leaft about halfway, you liked my momo wheel
I will probably drive, just closer to the front. as long as I can make it that is

Default Update

Guys,

Just a quick update as I haven't put out the regular amount of information this year. Looks like a similar turn out as last year. Right now I have 19 cars registered and I expect a few more who didn't register. The schedule for the day is as follows:

09:00-10:00 Sign up / Bagels and coffee
10:00-Drivers Meeting
10:15-Line Up
10:30-Depart Paul Dolmetsch Motors
10:30-12:00 Route from PDM to Jamaica State Park
12:00-2:00 Lunch
-Eat
-Vote for peoples choice
-Sell stuff
-Swim if you want
2:00-Depart Jamaica State Park
2:00-4:00 Jamaica State Park to Paul Dolmetsch Motors
4:00-4:30 Group Photo / Prep for BBQ
4:45- Whenever BBQ

Like last year there will be a fee to get into Jaimaca State Park. I just purchased 30 entrance passes for the day to bring the price down to $1.80 per person. So I can tack on a $2.00 fee at sign up, or they can collect it from you at the gate for $2.50. Either one is fine by me. Unlike last year I didn't reserve the pavillion. Unfortunately at Jamaica State park the fee is $100.00 not the $35.00 of Hapgood pond. So, pray for sun, and pray that the pavillion is empty.

On another note. If you're bringing a dog. Their current rabies tag must be shown at the gate, they must be on a leash at all times and they must not be left unattended. They are also not allowed in the day use area. So with all of the parks restrictions on pets, it sounds like the pooch might be happier at home.

Regards,

-Dirk Feather

Default more info

really quickly before the run.

Don't forget to bring lunch and or buy it in the town of Jamaica VT.

Also, I know I said BYOB in my last post however, due to insurance/liability issues we can't have any alcohol at the BBQ. Please respect Pauls wishes and mine and bring only soft drinks.

maybe we'll go out for a few cold ones after the BBQ.

See you there,

DIrk

Default another VT100 has come and gone...

All,

The 2nd Annual Green Mountain SAAB Run has come and gone. We left Paul Dolmetsch Motors at about 10:45 on Saturday Morning. Much thanks to Paul for providing breakfast for the 30 people that joined us.

The first half of the run was about 80 miles through the twisting mountain roads between Bennington and Jamaica (VT) where we stopped for lunch at Jamaica State Park. After lunch, Tom Hannan took home the Long Distance Award, for driving from Central NJ. The Peoples Choice Runner-Up was awarded to Ian Whelan in his '86 SPG, and the Peoples Choice Award went to Bruce Turk in his gorgeous '68 Sonett II. Congratulations!

Thankfully Ashli and I drove the route on Friday because the second half of the run was under construction and had to be re-routed. Instead of 100 South from Jamaica we took more back roads and it ended up being a lot more fun. We wound our way back to Bennington and ended at The Bennington Battle Monument where we had Edward Feather, of Edward Feather Photography, take a group photo. His photos of the event should be available for purchase in a few weeks.

We completed the event with a BBQ at Paul Dolmetsch Motors. Unfortunately it was starting to rain so we moved dinner mostly under cover. Everyone seemed to have a good time including Paul. Thanks again to everyone who came out. Ashli and I had a blast but we're very tired.
