I would definitely not be unhappy with a car that looks like this though. Put a 280 hp turbo-four in it with XWD and that would be an amazing car.

The new direction of Saab styling could really be something great. Something that stands out without being flat-out ugly (Nissan Cube, Honda Crosstour, and the list goes on...). Very nice

The thing is, Saab has played that game up to now. They make amazing cars, and then emasculate them with underpowered engines. Heck, even the crappy Chevy Cavalier, er, Cobalt (I keep forgetting they renamed that car) SS gets a much more potent turbo four cylinder than the 9-3, and the MSRP is half the price of the 9-3.

And if it's acutally a wonderful car to drive(great steering-likebraille-very responsive, brakes-positive-powerful-easily modulated-fade free at triple digit speeds, motor-gusty/growly/sweet, etc.), finely designed and crafted interior, seweeeet shifter, then I'm very interested. But I just described my 328i But that is ONE SUUWEEET LOOKING SAAB, and I usually don't keep my cars much past a year.

I have to agree with kandiru--that was my first thought when I saw the rear.

DAMN. I really am not a fan of most of the newer designs out there (my favorite cars are from the early 90s) but that thing looks awesome. I think I'd like to see a little more deck/trunklid in the rear to emphasize the fender bulge (might make it caymen-esque). lots of power and xwd.
