I found some vinyl tubing and wondering if that would work in place of rubber or silicone hoses such as the vacuum lines and such. Thanks!

Depends on the type of vinyl. I have used nylon tubing as a replacement for metal tubing in aircraft instrument system under the brand name of NYLOK. properties would have to be noted for a proper judgement. Is the tubing vinyl or TYVEK?

There are a couple considerations when using vinyl tubing. Temperature, chemical resistance, and pressure capability. Usually the pressure rating and temperature rating are not hard to find, but I do not know enough chemistry to determine what sort of ratings are resistant to oil, gas, etc... I have seen in some cases, DOT approved air line, but you would still want to look in to the application so that you are not installing air line that is not rated for what you want to do.
The other approach. Install the vinyl tubing, carry rubber hose in back of car. If your vinyl fails replace with rubber hose. |
