Default Cylinder head compatability

I had just completed a head gasket replacement and had started the car when i heard some awful noises and the car died.... come to find out i had forgotten to tighten the cam gear bolts and my exhaust cam jumped time and was about 1/4 turn off time.... i just got new cam gears last night, put it back in time and low and behold,,, no compression on cyl's 1 and 3.... i havent torn it back apart yet, but i think i bent the exhaust valves. im looking for a new cylinder head and was wondering what heads will work? my car is a 97 9000 2.3 lpt converted to fpt,,, will all B234 heads work? what about B204? im having trouble finding any thing here as there are not many in the junk yards, but i know of a b204i that i should be able to get my hands on....

I threw away three B234 cylinder head in the dumpster last fall. They have been collecting dust in my garage for a couple of years. All 94 to 98 B234 head will work, N/A, FPT, LPT, or Aero.

I don't know if B202 cylinder heads will not work. I do not have information to say oneway or another.

as an fyi for anyone that ends up in my position,, i went to the junkyard and found a 93 9k cde 2.3 n/a... the heads were redesigned in 94, there are two major differences,, the timing chain cavity is wider in the 93 and older and the two bolts on that side of the head come up from the block instead of down from the head in the 94+.

the second difference is the coolant temperature sensor on the 94+ has a much larger hole. the internal parts should be the same though, the cam gears definantally had the same part number, the cams might have a different grid but im not sure. lifters and head bolts look the same, according to eeuroparts.com the valves are the same aswell. im still interested to see if the 94+ B204 head will work on the B234

As I said all 94-98 head will work. For the temperature sensor connection you just need to swap that from your 94.
