Default ss with bigger turbo?

so my friend has a 60 trim for sale, right now im bsr stage 3 on my 03 vector. is it possible to put that or even just a slightly bigger turbo on my car and bring it to a local tuning place? or does our ecu simply not allow people who do not have the exact software for our car. also would i have to do any engine work to run a bigger turbo? i know this sounds like a noob question but i want to just ask. thanks!

New turbo= custom tune along with probably larger injectors. Of course you will also need an adapter flange to get that turbo to work and new lines as well. I don't know of any tuners in Conn. and I think the closest place is going to be Automotion in Mass.

I have seen such kits as the Maptun 4-6 and others that require different trim turbos, as stated above you would need all those parts and possibly more, the other issue is fit, its kind of tight down there and if you go too big you may be rubbing against the fire wall, could be wrong though just looks tight with that stupid metal cover over the turbo that has a sign saying do not touch lol. I believe the other turbos that have been used besides major custom work which I have only seen on SS with engine swap to the 2.3T is below:

TD04HL16T
TD04HL18T
TD04HLXT

I believe this is it but I may be mistaken

Well, if you are running a stage 3, you technically can run a bigger turbo, but a custom tune and bigger injectors would be recomended (spelling?) I am fairly new to the saab tuning, but formerly a vw tuner...anyways, I was looking back there on my car, and it really will depend on what housing the turbo is. I am pretty sure like a garrett gt28rs will fit without worry, but I just tried hold my gt30 up there, and the housing is wayy too big to fit without notching the firewall.

Another thing to look at is consider a megasquirt (fuel managment on the cheap $2xx) but not sure how it will work with our pretty advanced ecu...

just my $0.02 from my experience (which is minimal with my new favorite toy..My Saab)

hey thank you guys, i got my saab 3 years ago and have only been on this saab forum. all i hear is blah blah we can't do anything because of our ecu. im helping my friend build his honda engine and hes going to eventually run a big turbo and all of a sudden i realized that my saab, although having a stupid ecu system, is still just a car and possibly can be modified more than my stage 3. im gonna shoot for a bigger turbo, and i assumed i would need to get bigger injectors and a better fuel management system along with a new tune, but if that all i had to do(besides fitting the turbo up perfectly) then i found my next project!
thanks again, any other relevant info that would help me is greatly welcomed!

right now your options for "bigger turbos" are
maptun:
stage 4: td04-16t and tune
stage 5: td04-16t 465 injectors and tune
stage 6: td04-hxlt 465 injectors and tune
(not including clutch and pistons for stage 5 and 6)
im shooting for maptuns stage 4 i emailed john at jzw about a custom stage 4 mainly because i do not want to do fuel mods i want to get tuned as soon as possible. i dont want to pay 1k for a tune and 1k for a turbo that you can get for 399. also unless im draggin the car which im not i dont want to go past 289 hp.
