Alpine AI-net cable take apart

ops: I am such a muppet. I just got an Alpine CD changer and thought I would test it before I installed it, so I connected up the AI-net cable between the changer and head unit and yay! everything works.

But now I need to take the cable apart and I can't work out how to do it, as it appears to be locked in.

Anyone know how to do this?

Isn't there a little barb on the side of the plug that you need to push in??

No there isn't: the male connector had barbs on either side, which 'clicked' in place, but panic over, I have managed to prise both ends apart Not having seen one of these cables before I was reluctant to go steaming in and risk breaking it

Beads of sweat had started to form on my forehead when I couldn't separate the cables.....
