Hi everyone!
Since this is my first post, I want to say that I love the forum! I've bee "lurking" for awhile now (about 8mo) and read most of the threads. I purchased an '07 Aero about that time ago and so far so good. I get my q's answered by searching and refrain from asking all the repetitive stuff
Anyway, just wanted to share some pix I took of my car - it's finally nice out here in Chicago! Shout out to all Chicago SAABers! I also wanted to ask if there are any good powder coating shops in Chicago or subs that are good/reasonably priced. I want to change my OEM wheels to black and don't feel like paining them myself. Just ordered my 20mm spacers so want to complete the look.

You have good taste in colors. I used to live in Crystal Lake and I'm a huge Bears/Cubs fan. Please post pictures after you install those 20 millimeter spacers. Welcome to Saab Central!

Nice car. But why the hell are you going to tint your headlights? Don't need them in chicago?

I like the look. Lamin X claims 90-95% light output. Originally I thought about painting the headlights (inside), but film is easier. If i hate it, I can always remove it.

Yeah I think it looks cool too but you're still diminishing light output and thats never safe. But hey your car, gotta go with your priorities.

Hey guys no wonder the guy waited 7 months to post. It's his car, if someone told you what to do with your car how would you react. I've seen cop cars with darker tint then I would have. It's his choice! No different then running 8000 kelvin HIDs. See my point.

Thats exactly what I just posted. It's his car so he's got to go with his priorities. I was just asking why he wanted the tint. It's just a safety issue...exactly the same as 8k HIDs. Light output is totally diminished with those. I'm not trying to hate on the guy. It's a forum, if you can't deal with negative responses or input then don't post.

I appreciate the concern, if it gets too bad w/the law I'll remove the film. And hey, that's exactly why I waited this long to post...I was doing my homework j/k
Hope the spacers don't cause any rubbing - that's could be a real issue.

Yeah the ability to remove the film is always a positive. I don't think you should have a problem with the spacers but I thought that either the front or rear could only be 10mm...might want to check into that.

There were few guys running 20mm all around w/out issues. But I think on non Aero models, some were lowered after-market. Most on here are 15/20 or 5/15. I didn't want to go that route on a FWD car.
It's a pain to get them and then having to return them. Especially when I ordered longer bolts for 20mm... oh well, we'll see.

Only advice I have is to think carefully before making mods that could affect your car's driveability and or safety.

Check the laws first:

ARTICLE II. LIGHTS AND LAMPS


(625 ILCS 5/12‑201) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12‑201)
Sec. 12‑201. When lighted lamps are required.

(b) All other motor vehicles shall exhibit at least 2 lighted head lamps, with at least one on each side of the front of the vehicle, which satisfy United States Department of Transportation requirements, showing white lights, including that emitted by high intensity discharge (HID) lamps, or lights of a yellow or amber tint, during the period from sunset to sunrise, at times when rain, snow, fog, or other atmospheric conditions require the use of windshield wipers, and at any other times when, due to insufficient light or unfavorable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 1000 feet. Parking lamps may be used in addition to but not in lieu of such head lamps. Every motor vehicle, trailer, or semi‑trailer shall also exhibit at least 2 lighted lamps, commonly known as tail lamps, which shall be mounted on the left rear and right rear of the vehicle so as to throw a red light visible for at least 500 feet in the reverse direction, except that a truck tractor or road tractor manufactured before January 1, 1968 and all motorcycles need be equipped with only one such tail lamp.

Sec. 12‑212. Special restrictions on lamps. (a) No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equipment upon any highway with any lamp or device on the vehicle or equipment displaying a red light visible from directly in front of the vehicle or equipment except as otherwise provided in this Act.
(b) Subject to the restrictions of this Act, flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles except as a means for indicating a right or left turn as provided in Section 12‑208 or the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care as expressly provided in Sections 11‑804 or 12‑215.
(c) Unless otherwise expressly authorized by this Code, all other lighting or combination of lighting on any vehicle shall be prohibited.

Thanks! Am I the only one here that has (will have) Lamin X? I remember at least one guy with a red 93 on here...

boo.. leave the guy alone, geez..

beautiful car man, and don't sweat the 5-0.. i run a front vanity plate here in Texas (no need to post the law, i know it) and i havn't been pulled over so far. Been 3 months and i've been exposed to cops at every angle, they don't seem to care much.

That blue looks cool too - different, wonder how thats working out for him. I thought about doing my fogs yellow, but I still like the black look best.
