So I install the device like recomended for t7 and I have it screwed almost all the way out which nets me 9-10 psi in 1st and 2nd but also 3, 4 and 5.
I turn in up and can get 16 psi in 3, 4 and 5 but get a cel in 1st and second because of the high pressure. If I take it easy in 1 and 2 apon going to 3rd it spikes to 14psi and wobbles between 10-14 psi. it just won't hold steady. Does it sound like the WG is on its way out. Before the MBC install I backed down the WG arm but returned it to stock for the MBC. Damn this trionic7. any thoughts? |

You didn't install it right if you re getting a CEL. Even if you turn it up too high when it is installed sequentially all that happens is it goes into limp home mode. Make sure that it is installed between the signal line coming from the turbo to the BPC valve. This is the bottom vaccum hose coming out of the BPC (It says "C" next to it). Then make sure that you blocked off the bleed oriface on your MBC with epoxy, nail polish, or tape (only temporarily though). If the bleed oriface isn't blocked off, it will not work properly.

that is exactly how it is set up. Orfice is blocked with epoxy. L shape nipple to bpc. straight nipple to turbo. any thoughts?

I suggest that you loosen it to the very lowest setting. Then work your way back up. I just kept turning it higher until it went into limp home mode. When I got to the point just before it would put the car in LHM, the boost would twitch up and down over and over. This is because it was boosting higher than the car wanted it to and it kept opening the WG. Another problem with mine is that I can set it really high, but if I floor it at low RPMs in 3rd, 4th or 5th it overboosts and the car goes into LHM. If I wait until 60mph to floor it in third, it boosts really high but doesn't go into LHM. It is weird, but try to find the exact psi at which LHM engages and then back off until it works right. What was your stock boost level? Remember that you can't turn it up much if any higher than stock, an SMBC only helps spool-up, and maybe a little extra boost but not much if any.

Stock is 5psi in 1st 6 psi in 2nd 10psi in 3rd 12 psi in 4th 5th I can run 16 psi in 3rd 4th and 5th with no LHM but if I floor it in 1st or second I get LHM.

The SMBC should not boost higher than stock, nor does it affect max boost if you set it lower than stock. I would try setting the SMBC for 5 psi. Basically this will let the turbo spool up to 5 psi before the wastegate even begins opening. This will give you increased throttle response. From here, I would keep turning it up by about 1 psi and testing it until you get into LHM. Then turn it back a little. If you are raising the boost higher than stock the car isn't going to like it. I am not sure what psi I'm running in my 9-3SE (I think probably 12), but I get wheelspin in 1st gear just from flooring it. I can also chirp every gear except fifth, so the SMBC can create increased acceleration but you need to find the car's sweet spot. Just keep trying with the adjustments.

I have been trying to track down a power problem. My wifes 2001 runs 16 psi but mine runs 12psi in the upper gears. Hers is noticeably quicker also. If the mbc is letting me run to 16psi then that tecnicaly could mean there is a problem elsewhere. I had SAAB take a look but they found nothing.
