Default Look what microsoft has in store to dominate the iPad

I mean phone touch screens these days are barely as responsive as the iphone (I mean the Nexus One might be the first that can really match its speed / lack of touch interface lagg), but it looks like apple is going to get completely dominated as far as far as the iPad goes in the next coming couple of years.

I mean check out the Microsoft courier project
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmIgNfp-MdI

Screens that close so they wont get scratched to crap inside your bag, ingenious. Looks like this will be the first device that could actually replace the paper filled notebook / journal / 3 ring binder as we know it.

And then there are other devices like the HP slate that will also be so much more capable.

This year (if not 2011) will be very exciting for this new genre of computer, the booklet

Wow that looks awesome - if it can be developed to compete with Apples pricing, userability and app library, then it deserves to be very sucessful.

Wow that does look cool. Hard to believe Microsoft could actually have the best anything at launch. They are always playing follow the leader.
Time will tell....

Default Have you heard of the Indian "Adam"

Enter Adam, the iPad killer made in India

HYDERABAD: Apple’s iPad was, it’s fair to say, awaited with the kind of breathless anticipation usually reserved by nubile nymphets for rakish rockers. But even as consumers rave about it, the technoscenti are already looking forward to a product that could make the iPad seem outdated, and, what’s more, is completely Made in India. (I believe it will be produced in Taiwan)

India is, of course, regarded as a software superpower but hasn’t made waves in IT hardware. That could soon change, thanks to the Adam tablet PC of Hyderabad-based Notion Ink. Adam has generated enormous buzz on tech websites and gadget blogs ever since an early prototype was first demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show, the world’s largest consumer tech show in January.

On Sunday, (this Sunday) the final product minus the custom user-interface will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. But first, we sneaked a preview at Hyderabad’s BVRIT Innovation Centre, where they are based.

Never heard of Notion Ink? Its founders are six IITians and an MBA graduate. With an average age of 24, they believe India has what it takes to compete with the most innovative tech companies in the world. ‘‘We knew that Indian engineers and designers were doing most of the innovative work at Microsoft, Intel, and Apple. We just needed to take the first step,” says co-founder Rohan Shravan.

As previously heard, Adam is based on the Tegra 2 structure formed tablet PCs. Uses ARM CORTEX-A9 dual-core processor, Pixel Qi resolution of 1,024 x 600 in 10 Cunban wearing anti-(transflective) display screen. In addition, there are three million Pixel camera, three USB slot, the HDMI can output 1080p video terminals, and built-in WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth. Other thoughtful design also includes the ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and acceleration sensors. Battery life is claimed there are 16 hours.

It's a snazzy video about a concept. There is no poduct yet. It's like Saab's many concept models. I'll get excited about it when I can actually buy it. After SP1..

On the lines of a dual screen format... I would love to see a tranditional laptop form factor with the keyboard and mouse replaced with a second screen a la nintendo DS. The courier is a nice concept for sure.

Good point.

I also belive that apple will be able to compete. They've made fortunes on the ipods and iphones and such, so theyll have plenty of money (loans) for newer and better technologies. I think that they'll have a similar product out at the same time as microsoft if not earlier.
