Default P0327 Knock sensor code

I have a P0327 code pulled from my car. Looking around most of the signs point to the DIC. Has anyone has expierence with this code and what solves it? I was going to try the plugs first and take it from there.

Well its not the plugs just changes them out with the same NGK ones that were in there. Must be the DIC then, great.

From the WIS P0327 points to the DIC wiring harness or the DIC itself. Was the DIC the original DIC or have been replaced?

Good if you have a saaber nearby to try on a new DIC for confirmation.

I still need to check the wire from pin 7 on the DIC to pin 38 on the ecu. No idea if the DIC has been replaced or not, the recall stopped at 02 correct?

I think so on the DIC recall but even that the DIC will fail. Only Al Red Wagon I knew is still on his 1999 original DIC. I am on my third, each lasted about 4 years.

The thing is that the car is running good still. Just some vibration at idle but who knows if this is causing that. Cheapest I could find a DIC was around $250, sound about right?

UPDATE:

Installed a new DIC and the code is still there. Must be the wiring or the ecu itself.

It has been a while since I tinker with the saab and going through this forum.

Anyway, I think the ECU should be the last of your worries, it seldom gives a problem.

Could it be the fuel grade itself?? Maybe try a can of techron or try a premium grade fuel and see if the knock subsides.

The P0327 is a low value on bank 1, which is cylinders 1 and 2.

From the WIS: If there is an open or short circuit on the knock lead between the ignition discharge module and the control module, diagnostic trouble code p0327 will be generated.

I have changed the spark plugs, and always use what I like to think good gas with 0% ethanol (91 octane rating).

Update #2: Checked all the wire that lead from the DIC to the ECU and they all check out, good continuity. The only thing that didn't match up was that the wires going from the DIC for cylinders 1 & 2 knock control were crossed with 3 & 4. Doubt that really matters since thats how the car was wired, but the WIS does state something different.

Keep us updated, a few of us have these same pending codes and just have not chimed in yet... (wink wink, me).

I've a hunch I'm on the scour for a nice used DIC (ahem ahem)

Cheers,
Benjamin
