FM radio is gone, lots of static, can barely here stations that used to come in strong. Antenna is working, checked the wires, all seemed OK. CD, tape work fine. AM radio comes in clear. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |

This sounds like a FM antenna problem.
Pull the radio, remember the code as necessary, and check the antenna wire for continuity. Or, connect the meter to the antenna, there should be a reading of some sort. This I have never done...

Seconded. Check the wire all the way to and from the radio as many look at the antenna and assume all is good.
Has anyone ever tried an inline antenna signal booster and do they work?

a RF booster/amplifier. no matter how good the quality; the output always depends on the input. if you put crap in. your just gonna get more crap out. so make sure everything else is in good working order first.

In the '79 900, along with a stubbie antenna. Less expensive than a new antenna, but more installation work. Of course, this was a classic 900, so all things are easy.
