Default lights stay on !!!!!!!

2005 9-3. If youturn the ignition off the lights on the sid stay/radio stay on. The sid display says "please wait"

Whats going on here?

I have done some searching on the forum and I see some have said the car battery is bad?

Car cranks ok but the battery is 5 years old could that be the problem?

I have also read to disconect the battery to reset the computer? Is that a possible fix?

All the things you mention are possible. Also, you might look at the ignition switch, there's a little piece of plastic that gets depressed when you stick the key in. I wonder if there's a switch under that that might be sticking.

Ok well the battery was disconected for 10 minutes, when it got reconected everything was fine?

I would think if that worked it probably isnt the switch right? If the switch was stuck disconected the battery wouldnt have done anything?

never heard of this problem... But, a sure way to know if its the switch or not, leave the radio on when you turn the car off. Pull the key out, if the radio stays on and you can't lock the doors with the FOB, chances are pretty darn good the flap is sticking.
