So does it produce sound right away if you turn the ignition key to ON but don't start the car? And then not work for 2-3 minutes after you start the car? Or does it take 2-3 minutes to work after the car is turned on, regardless of whether or not it is actually started?
You're going to have two culprits: the head unit, or the amp. Take it to the dealer and make them fix it! |

Whether the key is turned to on or the car is started it takes 2-3 minutes to produce sound. The display and everything else works just no sound?

Probably the amp then.

Some of the speakers are powered by amplifiers internal to the head unit. If you get no sound at all then the head unit is the most likely suspect.

That's not the case with the new models (the 2007+ cars did away with the MOST fiber optic audio system). Since he has an Aero, it has the BOSE system. The amp for all the speakers is behind the left side panel in the trunk.

I seem to remember reading something with BT and the radios going wacky if the BT was on when you started the car or something to that effect. Try this: Completely eliminate your phone from the equation and see if your car still has no sound when you start it. I don't think it's an amp problem, just a software/design flaw in the system when you introduce BT.

Which brings up another issue:BOSE sound quality is nothing to boast about. AV techs and audiophiles have a saying:"no highs, no lows, it must be BOSE." What BOSE does excel at is imaging/soundstage. |

I have a similar problem wiht my '08 Turbo X. It seems to be dependent on cold weather though.
My radio simply takes a while to output any sound when the car's cold. It can take anywhere from 15 seconds to over a minute - seems to be worse the colder it is. I had the same issue last winter and had almost forgotten about it got cold again this winter. It isn't a huge deal so I hadn't really looked into getting it fixed, but it's certainly an anoyance. Maybe I'll look into warranty coverage or something before my dealship closes down for good |
