Is possible at all?
Basically I tried to replace batteries.. and didn't work out very well. The pins from new batteries(http://store.batteryspecialists.com/cr17335seft.html) did not fit.. and I tried to make holes larger Anyway, I was wondering how difficult is to get a new module and replace it? Can I do it by myself? Or I have to go to a dealer for some "magic" ? Is the theft module tight to my car only or I can use another one? May be a newer one(does it worth?)? Just found this item (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123) on ebay from 9-3, will this fit ? Thank you in advance. PS: sorry for too many question marks Last edited by octix; 10-01-10 at 08:50 PM. Reason: added one more question |

I have no answers to your questions, just more questions. How were the pins on your OEM batteries attached? Could you have desoldered and reused them?

Probably I could. I even thought about it... however doing that would definitely heat battery too.. so I wasn't sure if that's the way to go... I have no experience with soldering..

i received the service theft alarm on sid and removed the siren to discover my 2003 95 has the 'non-servicable' unit. used a dremel tool to cut into the box, ordered batteries from tselectronic.com and put everything back together this morning.
issues noted - cutting into plastic box presents obvious issues with reseating/resealing. during manufacture a protective coating was applied to circuit board and this might cause new installations to the board not work. the unit will be put back in the car this afternoon once the adhesive cures. old batteries were a hair off 3 volts on the meter so hopefully this was enough to trigger the alarm failure warning. if not i butchered the $297 part for nothing. questions - do other cars suffer from this battery issue? who builds a box that contains a time limited device and seal the box? |
