Unhappy SID went black

Hi!

Yesterday starting to drive home after long hollyday my Saab 9-5 Sid display went black. Can't see anything. When I started my car everything was working propperly. I stopped for a moment and then SID went black. The buttons work that much I know (my washer fluid wnet low and the info display sign lighted in dashboard and when I pressed clear button it went off). Is it repairable? Is there fuse for SID? Before that SID worked excellently, no pixels missing. Is it possible that SID dies instantly with out warning (read missing pixels)?

So the whole thing is black? Have you checked the bulbs? You can have your SID rebuilt.... BBA are great but for the love of god don't use Kramer!

Yes thge hole thing is black. I haven't checked the bulbs. Does the bulbs affect SID so that you can't read anythin from the display? I've got nothing there. an't see temperature, clock, any radio or track information and other stuff.

If the bulbs are gone you won't be able to see anything at all. It is possible that the ribbon has detarched as well.

this may be a stupid question, but did you hit the night panel button? my brother did this accidentally the other day and was like "what happened?!?!?!"

Obviously the night panel function is back to off once the car is restarted.

No I didn't hit the nightpanel button, because then all the dashboard would be black. Except the speed indicator up to 140 km/h. This was the first thing I checked.

Found out that the fuse was burned out. Changed the fuse and all works perfectly.

OK, well the fuse change did not work, since the fule blew a gain in a few days, and I've blown out one more in a short period of time.

This was going to be my suggestion - the 10amp fuse.

Careful with a wire located near your throttle - if you meddle with it too much, it causes this fuse to blow. You will also lose your turn signal noise, if you didn't notice... ask me how I know.

I HATE the turn signal noise. Probably the only thing on my car that annoys the sh*t outta me.

My problem was the lights under the rear doors. They fell out from their sockets and there came short circuit when they touched the car body. Removed them and no short circuit and blowing fuses anymore

That was one of the questions I had. Which other electical items are connected to fuse #8? The fuse list only shows the SID.

I'll check the door bottom lights.
