It snowed today.

"The sky is falling!"

"The end is near"

i WISH i had snow. sadly the DC area has been doomed to cold rain. it snowed for a bit on saturday, and then shortly turned to ice pellets.

We have been getting good snow this fall. At least 3 decent storms so far. This morning it was -14F! Brrr.

We should have close to 2 feet of snow when the storm moves out. And then the lake-effect snow will continue. Very strong winds and low temps makes it pretty nasty out. I didn't make it up the hill to my house today..

I need a real winter vehicle with AWD or 4WD. XWD would even be better.

You remembered my theory.

No, not really.. It is a bit more spectacular going sideways up the hill but there is only so much grip for 2 wheels.

I expected the Nokian A/S tires to do better but perhaps real winter tires will make a good difference. The car also doesn't have traction control and no LSD so you're basically down to one wheel with the least grip.

Did you ever try to make it up a steep, snowy hill and you don't make the top? You come to a stop and even with all wheels locked, the car starts to slide backwards. And you have to decide to let it slide back and see where it stops (in the deep snow) or let go of the brakes and regain some of the steering but go fast down the hill backwards. Both usually don't have a good ending.

I am very tempted to visit a Subaru dealer soon.. I bet TurboBlix can hardly wait to unleash her WRX on the white stuff.

Hm. Bright and sunny today as it has been for the past week of so. Actually did some line painting on the taxiways...though had to add a little heat to get it to dry fast enough.

Bit of snow on the rest of the continent is there?

We had a early snow last year before I put my winter tires on. I made it nearly to the top of the hill but had to stop for a red light. As soon as I tried to go forwards the tires couldn't get any traction and only slipped and spun as soon as they started to move, as I slowly slid backwards, with a few cars behind me. I had to do a weird backwards turn as the guy backed up behind me. I went down, then had to drive a couple blocks over for a less steep hill.

Are your serious about getting rid of the Mercedes? It's a beautiful car, shame it can't make it up the hill.

It is a great car in exceptional condition with no rust. But it's a bit of a shame though to expose it to the nasty winter conditions. I'll leave it parked at the bottom of the hill for now when I can't make it up there. Not ideal but it works. Moving to Florida would be another great idea. Buy a 9-3 vert and never look back.
