Odd ticking noise.

My car suddenly went into neutral when I was going 55mph, and after that it has starting making a terrible ticking noise. It sounds like a belt noise but it's coming from the tranny. Is my Saab tranny dying?

Most likely. Any leaks? You might just need a tranny service. Get it checked out.

I checked it out myself. No leaks. An oil change place put Dexron Mercon III in the tranny and that seems to be most of my problem. I just haven't had the money to get it done for a little while. I am hoping that a good flush and fill, bands retightened will help it out.
