01 aero sid clock

Hey all. My clock doesn't light up. Its functioning as you can see the numbers its just extremely dim how can I fix this to make it shine? Also are the buttons on the sid supposed to light up? (Clear set - + night panel) are they backlit or no. Mine aren't...

The bulbs are out. There are six bulbs in the SID, two for the buttons, and four for the display. eEuroparts has them, unfortunately they're about $6 per. You can pop the SID out carefully with a butter knife, although sometime they're stubborn and you need to push them out from behind by removing the radio. The bulbs come out with a quarter-turn clockwise.

Oh thats good that I can replace them. I wonder if they are pick up able at my local autozone...

I bought replacement bulbs for $1.20 a piece from a local electronics store (not Radioshack)... Just pulled up the old invoice and they are called "Lamp 8640".... You will have to re-use the base from the dead bulb though.

I'm not quite sure I follow what do you mean re use the base?

The bulbs behind the SID come mounted on a gray plastic base that twists into the back of the SID itself... That gray bit will have to be reused... Kinda like the project here for the heated seat switch bulbs.
