0W-30 and 0W-40 are specified. Later, they added 5W-30. However, all years specify GM-LL-A-025 oils. In Europe, there are many choices. In the U.S., Mobil 1 0W-40 and Castrol Syntec 0W-30 European Formula seem to be the main oils available. The Castrol variant is sold by Autozone and the Mobil 1 0W-40 much more widely. There are other oil that may be easy to find in your area but are not nationally available, such as Total Quartz Energy 9000 0W-30.
Saab says that if you can't find the right oil, use an ACEA A3/B3 oil, which is not much easier to find. Mobil 1 0W-40 is the easiest. I think a 0W oil is better for most people than a 5W oil. |

Viscosity deals with flow at specified temperatures, it has nothing to do with being better or worse as a lubricant. Here's a few readily available LL A 025 Oils besides Mobil 0W40 Elf Evolution Gulf Formula GMX Quartz total Energy (ELF Excellium) Castrol Syntec Euro Amsoil Euro a couple of not so available: Ravenol LSG GMCOil and of course, Royal Purple |

I'll put that under personal choice, opinions will vary. There is a European GM Spec 5W30 Mobil 1, but none in the US. I'd say just change it sooner.
