Default T8 Suite - What does this mean for us?

Well it looks these people http://trionic.mobixs.eu/ are working on a Trionic 8 suite to tune the T8 ECU.

Its still work in progress, however it appears promising.

But what does this exactly mean? Once (if) it is complete, will we be able to tune our own cars with laptops and OBDII cables?

I downloaded the program just to see the setup and I am very impressed. You can check the pedal position, torque curves, torque limiter, boost controller etc..

I cant wait until someone breaks the code to the check sum and this thing is running on full power.

Same here... if this thing pans out no more getting raped by BSR or Maptun everytime you want to add on some hardware.

ok so if this software works we will be able to tune our ecu and adjust all of the settings, so i will be able to tune my car to 200+ horsepower (linear) with out buying a ppc to tune?
Why isnt anyone else really excited about this? this means saving thousands of dollars to tune our car!!

That adapter would work with our connection. The only problem is that they are having trouble getting the car to communicate with the program so it wont do anything.

Wish someone would do a tech2 emulator.

No. The 2.8L uses a different engine management system. All 2.0L sedans use the T8 engine management. This software is solely for the 2.0L engines. If you are looking for tune for your 2.8, at a good price, look at VTUNER threads, or look into HP Tuners software.

Thanks man for the quick reply. I actually heard about VTuner as well and just wanted to see what else was out there. I'm not going to do anything though before I have a new exhaust system (Hirsch) and down pipe (probably custom due to the 2.8L).. From what I've read that seems the best way to start off..

I emailed they gentleman from the website, 'dilemma' and asked him about the T8 Suite.

Basically, it doesn't have the checksum correction, and it can't read/write to the ecu.
I've looked around on the net, and found him a couple links that *may* be handy, not sure as yet.

If anyone knows anything, or anyone who may be willing to help him out and provide him with some info/data on any of the two missing aspects, please let me know or post it up on here. Obviously these two things are possible, we just need to figure out how!

If we can help him get this going, one day soon we may be able to tune our own cars, and maybe we can even get a few standard maps we can put on. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who is excited about this.

He's dedicating his own time and resources to helping the Saab community (already through T5 & T7 suites), so it'd be nice if some of us got together and donated a little to his cause

From what I can see, the sw does not have the checksum function and you have to have that for it to work. You also need to figure out a way to upload and download the files. Without the checksum, the sw will not help you.

I had to go out and buy the tuning sw for a bunch of money to be able to correct the checksum and upload and download the files. T8 seems to be very tricky on the checksums and even with my very expensive sw, I could not change certain maps that I wanted to because the checksum has not been figured out for everything, just the primary maps.

Until the checksum algorythm is calculated and a good upload tool is found, the t8suite is only good for changing maps, it cannot help you upload or download files or use that file in t8suite without the checksums.

To use t8suite, I would have to save the file with my sw, open it in t8suite, load it back into my sw, correct the checksum and then load it back into the car.

John

I am thoroughly excited about this, I've been contemplating ordering a PPC but have decided to wait until next spring when I put the car back on the road. Hopefully this will be released around the same time or this winter.

I also think it would be a good idea to get a group of us to donate. This would save us all alot of money so to donate and show our apprecition I think would be a good gesture.
