it was fun while it lasted. several trips to the junk yard, but no major problems. I inherited a much newer car and don't have space for, or need to pay registration, tax, and insurance for, 2 cars... the saab had to go.
I inherited a 2003 dodge neon. econobox, not terrifically comfortable, but fantastic gas mileage and much lower miles. Frankly, I liked the saab 900 more, but sentimental value of the dodge (it reminds me of my dearly departed relative) trumped the comfort and value of the 900. This site was the reason I even considered a 900 classic, and I never regretted it, in fact enjoyed it. thanks to all for the advice, patience, good humor, and mechanical expertise. cheers vince

My girlfriend had an '03 Neon (she recently traded it in on an '08 Caliber.. she has terrible taste in cars). It was rather boring and uncomfortable but it was extremely reliable.. she does a lot of driving and it had rather high miles on it, and other than just basic maintenance stuff, it never had any problems.
I also agree that you will regret it. I was always so happy to get back in my c900 after driving that thing. but there is always some point later on when you could come back to one.. |

The only thing I know about Neons is that they are quite prone to head gasket failure. Not too sure about years or if abuse & owner neglect has much to do with it. But its quite common.

You'll always cherish your Classic Saab 900 memories. It's not fair to ask any other car to live up to any such expectation. Not to diminish the other. There's just no other like a C900.
Good luck with your Neon. No more dead batteries from leaving the dome light on.
