Default Rear Deck Speakers

Hello all my old readers, Gee I have to tell you it is so nice NOT to HAVE to post after all the issues I have had!

Just had a Pioneer AVIC 310BT installed, miss the radio on when the engine is off and the low volume start that the orginal radio had, but I can live with that.
My question is that, although there are speakers installed on the rear deck there is no sound from them, I cannot remember if there was any sound coming out of them as I really never travelled in the back of the car!

Anyone know if they are supposed to work or did the installer miss something or should I have installed something else or do I need to install other items to get the good bass back that I used to have?

They should be working, sounds like they didn't get added when they hooked up your deck, did they remove the factory amp?

Gee I have no idea, is it part of the original radio set up or is it a separate item do you know where it is located if this is the case?

Thanks for the prompt reply!

What head unit did your car come with? Cd player or cd/tape player? If it was just cd then you probably have AS1 which has no rear deck speakers. (very rare in the US)

Thank you sir! it must be the AS1, no tape deck. The speakers are there though, I guess they are just not wired?

Any idea how or what I need to install them and I guess an amp?

Great help and information as usual you have to know how much this is appreciated!

Thank you again kind sir I had read that but figured that as the speakers are actually installed it was a wiring issue so that makes sense now, more money.../ Ah the joys of SAAB ownership

The underside of the speakers is easily reached from inside the trunk. From memory there's just some grey foam to move aside to access the terminals and check for wiring.

Would you believe this I did not look hard enough, there are NO speakers there just blanks that on first blush look like speaker cones. Darn guy in the shop was right on but he thought as I did that they were there but not wired in.../

Back to your previous post and I find that Best Buy has an amp and 6.5 Speaker set for $199 plus tax and installation so I am back to Best Buy that kid was better than I gave him credit for. Pleasant surprise to be sure.

Great information must buy someone a beer somewhere!
