Hello everyone.
So, I just came back from saab service and not sure what to do next. Basically when I switch to 2nd (either from 1st or from neutral while turning) gear at 1k-1.5k rpms I can hear a rattle noise from engine. This noise disappears when rpms go up. I was told that the noise is from pilot bushing and they also recommend replacing clutch witch they estimate at ~1625$ Does this sound reasonable? May be I'm using it wrong? Did anyone hear or experience such things? Car has 133k miles, it's 2.3 4cyl. '99 saab... Oh, not sure if it's related.. but sometimes I have hard time get into 3rd gear.. it's like something stops it, however after 1st try it will shift ok. Thank you in advance. |

pilot bearing noise should go away if you step on the clutch since it only engages when clutch is connected.
If this is not the issue, maybe it's timing chain or the heat shield. $1600 sounds a LOT steep for a lpt car, as you can get clutch parts for approximately $400 including the slave cyl. Many shops will quote you only $600~800 for the labor. good luck! |
