I am reading in the SAAB WIS about removing my head, and it mentions that I need Wedge 83 95 238. I can see the spot between the frame and the engine where I want to drive it in to hold up the engine, and I was thinking I could probably make this wedge from a peice of wood. Does anyone have the dimensions on this piece?

I did see another suggestion that a floor jack could be used to support then engine instead of the wedges. Would be interested to hear if anyone has tried that method. |

It's just a little chunk of wood about 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick.

I just did my belt this weekend, along with the tensioner pulley. I used a block of wood on top of a floor jack (need something to distribute the weight across the oil pan, otherwise, the jack will make a hole - not good). Not too bad of a job once I knew what I was doing! |
