Default My first negative

Well I have owned my 89 c900t for about 4 months now.
I have put about 3500 miles on her and loved it all.
Well, today I went to autozone to get some speaker wire and degreaser.

i came out and all the car did was crank....wouldnt start.
I checked the coil connections, made sure the distributor was tight, etc.

Well that turned up nothing so I sprayed a little starting fluid into the maf.
It then decided to sputter a little. So i narrowed my problem to fuel.

I then sprayed a little more starting fluid and the car suddenly came to life and was fine. Except i had a faint ticking coming from the fuel injector area.

I had never heard this ticking before. I poked around a little and found nothing.

After I let the car run for about 5 minutes I turned it off and tried restarting it. Damn thing wouldnt start again. I tried it a few more times and now my battery was suddenly dead.......wtf????

i went back inside, grabbed a battery and jumpers and bang she was up and running again.
The ticking was stil there, but much much quieter.
i got home and turned the car off about 10 times and everytime, she starts right back up.......the ticking stopped on the way home as well.

I am truely confused.

I wanted to add that my car only had about a 1/16th of a tank of gas.
I am thinking that maybe the strainer picked up a little dirt in the tank.

Quite possible, running a car low on gas is just plain risky, especially not being the original owner. That being said it is also hard on fuel pumps seeing as the gasoline actually cools the pump, running near empty for long periods of time can lead to fuel pump failure.
