Default engine cutting out on corners

hello to all 95 ers, my problem began after the serpentine belt slipped off one of the pulleys and had to get car towed to mechanic. he said the belt was soft due to oil leaking on to it from the crankshaft seal and it might have stretched a little .all the pulleys were good but the belt was frayed on the side of the timing cover and a new belt was put on. all seemed fine untill the engine cut out a few times when i slowed down to take a corner. is this some kind of electrical fault due to the engine overheating when i drove it about a mile after the belt had slipped off?
