Hyundai is pulling out all the stops for the Genesis Coupe release... A free track day and a chance to take a 300 HP coupe out on a track; why not eh? I am signed up Sunday the 19th in DC so we'll see how well it does. |

I'm not really a huge fan of it...but a free test drive? Maybe that'll change my mind

Good point. That means it's okay to drive it like you stole it

yeah, it would defeat the whole point to have an auto though---given that the car is supposed to appeal to driving enthusiasts although in america it wouldn't surprise me if they were all autos..... |

I've already driven one and I like it. It wasn't as exciting as I thought it would, but a nice car with a good amount of power. The thing that surprised me most about the car was the seats. This is usually where many companies get it wrong, but the seats in the coupe are great. Other parts of the car like the steering and center stack just had too much of the silver plastic for me, but I could get over that. By the way the car I drove was the 3.8 V6 with Track package.

I have done those "track days" before for Benz and Lexus...they are a lot of fun..don't count on a manual being there, it wont happen....If it wasn't in Long Island I would go.....too much hazzle

All the reviews I've read say that it falls short of the camaro too, mostly in handling and manual gearbox smoothness.

Then don't make the trip....they will (likely) not have a car that only some people are able to drive...If this is like the previous events that I have attended, they give you the car without any restrictions, you drive alone (sometimes you can bring a friend) around the track and do (short of wrecking the car) anything you want to it. I remember my friend cutting the TCS on a Lexus LS and going straight into the cones because the big whale couldn't make the turn....when we got to the switching area there was still one under the car...

The BMW thing I did a few years ago had ONE manual transmission equipped car on the tour and it had to be pulled from the line-up to have the clutch replaced before the end of the weekend. There were also a few people at the Aero Academy that could not drive a manual. I did four wheel drift a 5 series wagon on a public road. |
