Default Just noticed

Well, always something new with a 2003 9-3!

This morning as I pulled into work & parked, I noticed that my car kindly informs me what works when. Check this out...

-Shut car off & pull key out (but don't open door).
1: Eject button & CD insertion location light are on (you can eject or insert a CD.
2: Window button are lit (all windows will still work)
3: Door lock buttons are lit (you can lock/unlock all doors)

-Open door
1: Same as above: CD action still good.
2: Same as above: window action still good (I think, it was early & this doesn't make sense to me)
3: Door lock buttons are unlit (driver side won't work anymore).

That's cool.
Only 1 request: Why not have the headlight dial lit so you can find it in the dark (when you need to use it ) I guess Saab didn't count on people turning off their DRL

Just thought I'd share. Sorry if this was a waste of space.

Vis,

that's because it follows the same logic as the glow-in-the-dark escape hatch trunk release handle.. when the heck was the last time you've left your trunk open long enough for the sun to 'charge' up that little glow in the dark handle?

Maybe the guy who came up with the idea asked his manager where he should place the escape handle, and his boss replied with "Stick it where the sun don't shine".

You know what sucks though. Just about everything is lit up all the time... except for the headlight switch! At night, you can't see the switch at all...

I noticed that the only thing my headlight switch shuts off is the lights that illuminate the headlight switch, and the lights that illuminate OnStar. How bizarre!

OK, I'm confused: are you saying that your radio, CD, and windows work even with the key out of the ignition? In my Arc, as soon as I remove the key, all systems go off. If I leave the key in the off position, everything still runs, but as soon as the key loses contact with the ignition module, kaput! Am I missing something?

True, but you can turn it back on agai, even if the key isn't in the ignition.

As for the light switch, that's true, but luckily, it's the only thing shaped like that in that area of the controls, so easy enough ti find! I do agree though, that it wouldn't be hard for them to have put a little light on there to make it easier. . . oh well.

For those of you with the manual AC (non ACC), do your AC dials light up at night too? If they don't, then it looks like all dials do not have lights in them. Only buttons.

Ummm well unless you turn off the DRL it not a point anyway. The real question is why did they install the headlight switch any way?

Well of course. I would expect no less. It's a Saab, no??
Does it still shut off after 30 minutes, or whatever, like my 98 does?
(Been a Saab feature since AT LEAST 1994).

I have the manual AC... All the controls light up regarless of the position of the headlight switch. Only things affected by the headlight switch are the lights ON the headlight switch and the Onstar lighting.
